Inserting battery & charging the IsatPhone 2

Follow the instructions below on how to insert and charge the battery on the IsatPhone 2.

Inserting and Removing the Battery

Your phone is supplied with a rechargeable battery, which may not be fully charged when you take it out of the box.

Note: Always switch the device off and disconnect the charger before removing the battery.

1. Remove the battery by pressing the catch and lifting the battery up and out of the phone.
2. Insert the battery by pressing battery forward and down. It will click into place.

Charging the Phone Battery

Your phone is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. To maximize its life and its charging capacity, the first time you charge the battery, charge it overnight. Use only Inmarsat-supplied or approved batteries, and recharge your battery with Inmarsat-supplied or approved charges for the phone. Do not leave the battery charging for extended periods of time.

The battery can be charged by:

1. Using the AC charger (connecting to a wall socket)
2. Using the micro USB cable (connecting to a PC)
3. Using the car charger (connecting to a vehicle cigarette lighter/power outlet)

Registering to the network with IsatPhone Pro & IsatPhone 2

Step 1: Register to the network

1. Rotate and extend the antenna so it is pointing at the sky
2. Face towards the general direction of the equator and the phone will begin to register

Note: The Inmarsat satellites are geostationary and they do not change location. The satellites are positioned across the equator therefore you will need to ensure you are facing the satellite from your region. If you do not face the right direction you will not register to the network. The signal indicator will show bars, if it does not, turn 90 degrees to the right and continue doing so until you have achieved signal gain.

 

Placing a call from the IsatPhone Pro & IsatPhone 2

Step 1: Register to the network

The satellites are positioned across the equator therefore you will need to ensure you are facing the satellite from your region. If you do not face the right direction you will not register to the network. The signal indicator will show bars, if it does not, turn 90 degrees to the right and continue doing so until you have achieved signal gain.

Step 2: Place a call

 

1. Press and hold the 0 key until the + appears
2. Dial the country code, area code and phone number
• Example: + (country code)(area code/city code)(phone number)
• Example: + 1 321 258 1234

 

Placing a call to the IsatPhone Pro & IsatPhone 2

Follow the steps below on how to call the IsatPhone from a landline or cellular phone.

Solution 1: Dial from North American landline or cell phone

Call the phone by using the following format: 011 870 770 000 000.

Solution 2: Calling from another IsatPhone

Use the following format when dialing: 00 870 770 000 000.

 

Sending a text message from the IsatPhone Pro & IsatPhone 2

Step 1: Register to the network

Step 2: Compose & send a text message

1. Press Menu
2. Choose the Messaging icon (white envelope) and press Select
3. Highlight New message and press Options
4. Highlight New message and press Select
5. Highlight Text message and press Select
6. Enter the destination phone number (I.e. + 1 416 253 6008) in the To field
7. Type in the desired message into the text field, up to a maximum of 160 characters
8. Press the Option once the message has been created
9. Highlight Send and press Select

 

Accessing voicemail from the IsatPhone Pro & IsatPhone 2

Step 1: Register to the network

Step 2: Call voicemail

 

1. Hold the 1 key until the phone dials voicemail
2. The automated greeting will prompt for your 4 digit PIN code
• The 4 digit PIN code is the last 4 digits of your SIM serial number

 

Unable to access voicemail IsatPhone Pro & IsatPhone 2

 

Solution 1: Register to the network

 

1. Rotate and extend the antenna so it is pointing at the sky
2. Face towards the general direction of the equator and the phone will begin to register
3. Once registered, press and hold the 1 key to call voicemail
4. The automated greeting will prompt for your 4 digit PIN code

Solution 2: Re-program the voicemail access number

1. Press Menu
2. Highlight Settings and press Select
3. Highlight Call settings and press Select
4. Scroll down to Voicemail Number and press Select
5. Highlight the SIM card icon with the number +870772001899 and press Options
6. Highlight Activate and press Select
7. Press the red key back out to the home screen
8. Press and hold the 1 key to call voicemail

 

"Enter PIN Code" on IsatPhone Pro & IsatPhone 2

Step 1: Enter PIN code

1. Enter PIN code 8888 and press the "OK" key

Step 2: Disable PIN code

1. Press the "Menu" key
2. Highlight "Settings" and press the "Select" key
3. Highlight "Security" and press the "Select" key
4. Highlight "PIN request" and press the "Select" key
5. Highlight "Off" and press the "OK" key
6. Enter PIN code 8888 and press the "OK" key

 

Changing display language to English on IsatPhone Pro & IsatPhone 2

1. Press the left soft key (located above the green call key)
2. Press the down arrow key twice and press the left soft key
3. Press the down arrow key twice and press the left soft key
4. Press the left soft key once
5. Highlight "English" and press the left soft key

 

GEOS Registration & Configuration for IsatPhone 2

Follow the steps below on how to register for GEOS and configure your IsatPhone 2.

Step 1: Register with GEOS

1. Navigate to http://www.geosalliance.com/inmarsat/
2. Select option "Register or Manage Your Inmarsat Device
3. Read and accept the GEOS terms & conditions
4. Select option "First Time Registration" and click Continue
5. Complete the GEOS registration form, fill out all of the required fields and click Register when done
6. Once you have submitted and successfully completed the registration form you will be presented with a registration confirmation message
7. You will also receive a welcome email from GEOS Alliance, providing you with the emergency contact details to configure your IsatPhone 2.

Step 2: Configure IsatPhone 2

1. Power on your IsatPhone 2 handset
2. Press Menu
3. Navigate to Location Services and press Select
4. Scroll to Assistance Button and press Select
5. Scroll to Configure and press Select
6. Scroll to Call Config and press Select
7. Scroll to Add New Recipient and press Select

 

Enabling and disabling the keypad lock on IsatPhone Pro & IsatPhone 2

Follow the steps below on how to enable and disable the keypad lock on the IsatPhone Pro and Isatphone 2.

Solution 1: Enable keypad lock

1. Press the "Menu" key.
2. Highlight "Settings" and press the "Select" key.
3. Highlight "Security" and press the "Select" key.
4. Highlight "Automatic keypad lock" and press the "Select" key.
5. Highlight the time interval you want to use and press the "OK" key.

 

Calls not routing to voicemail on IsatPhone Pro & IsatPhone 2

Step 1: Register to the network

1. Rotate and extend the antenna so it is pointing at the sky.
2. Make sure you are facing in the direction of the satellite.

Note: the satellites are geostationary, they do not change location. You will need to make sure you are facing the satellite in your region. If you do not face the right direction you will not register to the network. The signal indicator will show bars, if it does not, turn 90 degrees to the right and continue doing so until you have achieved signal gain.

Step 2: Activate diverts

 

1. Press the "Menu" key.
2. Highlight "Settings" and press the "Select" key.
3. Highlight "Call settings" and press the "Select" key.
4. Highlight "Call divert" and press the "Select" key.
5. Highlight "If busy" and press the "Select" key.
6. Highlight "To voice mailbox" and press the "Select" key.
7. The phone will send a command to the network.
8. Highlight "If no reply" and press the "Options" key.
9. Highlight "Network default" and press the "OK" key.
10. Highlight "To voice mailbox" and press the "Select" key.
11. Highlight "If out of reach" and press the "Options" key.
12. Highlight "To voice mailbox" and press the "Select" key.
13. Highlight "If not available" and press the "Options" key.
14. Highlight "Activate" and press the "Select" key.
15. Highlight "Network default" and press the "OK" key.
16. Highlight "To voice mailbox" and press the "Select" key.

 

Step 3: Place test call

Place a test call using the following format +870 and the phone number. Dial 011 870 if calling from a cell phone or landline in North America.

 

Checking prepaid balance on IsatPhone Pro & IsatPhone 2

Follow the steps below on how to check your prepaid balance from the IsatPhone Pro & IsatPhone 2.

Solution: Check Pre-paid Balance

1. Press Menu
2. Highlight Settings, and press Select
3. Highlight Prepay, and press Select
4. Highlight Balance Enquiry, and press Select

Alternative methods for checking the balance:

1. To check your airtime balance, dial 591 from your Inmarsat handheld phone or +870 77 200 0591 from any other phone. Ensure to have your satellite phone number ready.
2. On Inmarsat IsatPhone Pro you can also just press *106# while connected to the network to have your airtime balance displayed as text on your Isatphone Pro.

 

Obtaining and sending GPS position on IsatPhone Pro & IsatPhone 2

Follow the steps below on how to obtain and send the current GPS position on the IsatPhone Pro & IsatPhone 2.

Step 1: Launch GPS application

1. Rotate and extend the antenna so it is pointing at the sky.
2. Make sure you are facing in the direction of the satellite.
3. Press the "Menu" key.
4. Highlight the "GPS position" icon and press the "Select" key.
5. The phone will obtain your GPS information.

Step 2: Sending position

1. From the GPS application, press the "Options" key.
2. Highlight "Send GPS location" and press the "Select" key.
3. Select either text or email.
4. In the "To" field enter the phone number or email address of the recipient.
5. To add a contact from your phonebook, press the "Options" key and select "Add recipient."

Solution 2: Disable the keypad lock

1. Press the "Menu" key.
2. Highlight "Settings" and press the "Select" key.
3. Highlight "Security" and press the "Select" key.
4. Highlight "Automatic keypad lock" and press the "Select" key.
5. Highlight "Off" and press the "OK" key.
